Vizgen

PIDC provided construction management services leading the 2 story, 18,000 sf renovation at 61 Moulton Street in Cambridge, MA.  The project was originally awarded as a speculative build, with Vizgen coming in as the occupant once construction had already begun. Collaborating with BioMed Realty, Lab Architect Group, AHA Consulting Engineers, and Vizgen, PIDC organized and navigated the design changes, customizing the space to meet Vizgen’s needs, while also delivering a successful transformation of the existing building. The new lab space included a demonstration area, dry lab, wet lab, cell culture lab, R&D space, and a freezer room. A feature stair leading to the 2nd floor was installed in reception, along with architectural wood and felt ceilings to provide an aesthetic environment for the office areas.  Mechanical upgrades included a new lab exhaust fan, updated controls throughout the space, and improvement and partial replacement of mechanical systems based on a full building commissioning effort.

Vizgen developed a benchtop tool called the MERSCOPE Platform, which allows researchers to map and quantify different types of RNA within single cells. The technology has broad applications in both biology and medicine.
